Santo Domingo. The Dominican Republic women’s national volleyball team is preparing to write a new chapter in its successful history as it seeks its seventh consecutive gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, a feat that would place it on par with Cuba as the only teams with seven consecutive titles in this competition.
The Queens of the Caribbean will begin their participation on August 2nd at the National Volleyball Palace, the venue where they will attempt to extend the dominance they have maintained for more than two decades in the regional competition. The final is scheduled for August 7th, one day before the closing of the Games.
Coach Marcos Kwiek has defined the group of 12 players who will represent the country at the regional event, confident that the team’s experience and talent will allow them to maintain Dominican hegemony.
The roster is made up of Nivelka Marte, Camila de la Rosa, Brenda Castillo, Janeiry Rodríguez, Brayelin Martínez, Yonkaira Peña, Flormarí Heredia, Jineiry Martínez, Cándida Arias, Geraldine González, Gaila González and Alondra Tapia.
The Queens of the Caribbean are the only team from the Dominican Republic to have won six consecutive titles at the Central American and Caribbean Games, establishing themselves as one of the most successful national sports teams.
