SANTO DOMINGO.– Dominican kitesurfer Deury Corniel will make his debut this Saturday, August 1st, at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, where he will seek to hold the national flag high in one of the most important competitions of his career.
At 26 years old, Corniel arrives at the regional event as one of the leading exponents of freestyle kitesurfing internationally, backed by a career full of successes that includes world titles, international podiums, and constant evolution within this discipline.
Originally from Cabarete, considered one of the best destinations in the world for kitesurfing, Deury turned his passion for the sport into a high-performance career from a very young age. Inspired by his brother, he began sailing as a child and, with dedication and discipline, reached the elite of the international circuit.
Among his main achievements are the gold medal at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, the title of youth kitesurfing world champion, and two consecutive world runner-up titles. In 2019, he came very close to winning the absolute world championship, with the title being decided in the final competition of the season.

Currently, Corniel is part of the international Red Bull athlete team, a recognition that distinguishes high-performance athletes with global potential and has strengthened his presence in the main competitions of the international circuit.
