15-year-old arrested in deadly Seattle food festival shooting

A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle food festival that left three people dead and four others injured, including a 2-year-old child.

Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson confirmed the arrest on Monday and said police are still searching for a second suspect in the shooting, which occurred near the Seattle Center during the final day of the annual festival.

Authorities believe the violence began when two individuals exchanged gunfire. Seattle Police Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis said investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

The shooting happened Sunday evening as hundreds of people attended the popular three-day food festival. Two victims died at the scene, while a 56-year-old woman later died at a hospital. The victims were identified as a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man and the 56-year-old woman.

The four surviving victims, including the 2-year-old child, remain in stable condition, according to police.

Mayor Wilson described the shooting as “a horrific act of violence” and pledged a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
