At least 13 dead and 10 injured in a Russian attack on a train station in Ukraine

A Russian attack on the train station in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, in the east of the country, has caused at least 13 deaths this Thursday and about ten injuries, reported the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Ganzha.

According to the official Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Railways, Ukrzaliznytsia, Russia launched an attack with a jet-powered drone against the Dnipro train station.

The impact hit one of the platforms, where a passenger train covering the Dnipro–Zaporizhzhia route was located at that moment.

According to the railway company, despite the fact that a high level of danger had been announced, there were people on the platform, who were attended to by rescue teams, medical personnel, and law enforcement.

Zelenskyy calls the attack “heinous”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attack as “atrocious” and asked, in an apparent allusion to the U.S. and the European Union (EU), “how many terrorist attacks has Russia perpetrated against our population since sanctions were lifted on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector, instead of moving towards de-escalation?”

The U.S. recently lifted sanctions on Russian diesel, while the EU removed tycoons Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the blacklist of sanctioned Russians in September.

“Precisely for this reason, Ukraine has always stated that fair and forceful measures are needed from the United States and Europe in response to the Russian escalation: sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be relaxed as long as this Russian war continues,” emphasized Zelenskyy.

The president stressed that “the time has come to adopt new, more severe sanctioning measures by the EU, the United States, and the G7.”

Another Russian attack in broad daylight against the center of the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, in the north of the invaded country, has also caused the death of two teenagers today, according to the State Emergency Service (DSNS) on Telegram.
