Dominican man in psychiatric unit after allegedly throwing Dominican ex-girlfriend from 15th floor

Ángel Carrasco, 31, remains hospitalized in a psychiatric unit following his arrest as he faces charges in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend, Nathaly Ramírez, 23, and the life-threatening injuries sustained by their eight-month-old daughter after they fell from the balcony of a 15th-floor apartment building in the Bronx, New York.

The Dominican national appeared virtually before a court while lying in a hospital bed. Judge Cary Fischer ordered him to remain in custody and issued a full order of protection for the baby, who remains hospitalized at Jacobi Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to the New York Post.

According to police sources cited by the newspaper, Carrasco allegedly went to Ramírez’s apartment with flowers in an attempt to reconcile with her. He had previously been arrested twice for domestic violence incidents at the same location. Investigators say the incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. on October 5, when he allegedly threw his former partner from the balcony while she was holding their daughter before fleeing the scene.
