Authorities continue investigating the cause of Wednesday’s fire at a five-story apartment building in Norwood, the Bronx, after the FDNY confirmed that three people have died.

The blaze broke out on East 209th Street following what officials described as some type of explosion, which caused windows and apartment doors to be blown out. The fire spread rapidly across three floors, while 14 people were injured and dozens of families were displaced.

The identities of the three victims have not yet been confirmed by the medical examiner’s office as investigators work to determine what caused the explosion and subsequent fire.
