Marco Rubio assures that Maduro will face justice and there will be no more attacks in Venezuela

Washington.– United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, assured this Saturday that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested and will face a criminal trial in the United States and that now that the Venezuelan leader has been captured, no new military actions are expected in the country, according to Republican Senator Mike Lee after a conversation.

“He been informed that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested by U.S. personnel to face trial on criminal charges in the United States and that the military actions we saw tonight were to protect and defend those who were executing the arrest warrant”, Senator Lee indicated on X about his conversation with Rubio.

The Republican senator assured that this mode of operation falls within the presidential authority enshrined in the Constitution to “protect American personnel from imminent attacks”, despite the fact that the power to declare war on another country rests with Congress. Lee assured that Rubio told him in his call that “he does not anticipate new (military) actions in Venezuela now that Maduro is in custody”. The US President, Donald Trump, confirmed today that the United States has carried out “successfully a large-scale attack against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and taken out of the country by air.” “The operation was carried out in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement,” Trump said in a message on the social network Truth Social, in which he indicated that he will give more information today at a press conference at 11 a.m. (16:00 GMT) from Mar-a-Lago (Florida).
