Pentagon releases seventh batch of declassified UFO files, including reports of a triangular object

The U.S. Department of War released the seventh batch of declassified files on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) on October 23 as part of the Presidential UAP Reporting and Open Science system, known as PURSUE.

The collection includes documents covering historical sightings dating back to the 1950s, as well as incidents reported in 2026 involving sensitive military installations in the United States.

“The Department of War and our partner agencies are actively working on the next release of UAP files,” Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s chief spokesperson, said.

One of the most notable documents is a memorandum from the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) describing sightings of a triangular object over a sensitive national security site in the western United States on two days in 2026.

The memorandum records interviews with two federal special agents and a third official stationed at a separate observation post. Witnesses described a black triangular object that rose vertically, remained stationary and then descended toward a canyon.

The object was estimated to be approximately 2.7 meters long, with a wingspan of 3.9 meters. According to the report, it traveled 2.5 kilometers in less than three seconds at an altitude of between 61 and 91 meters, without any obvious propulsion mechanism, sound or lights. A ground search found no debris or evidence of an impact.

The release also includes an investigation report concerning a ranch in Utah in April 2010. The report was produced by Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) under the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP), which operated from 2008 to 2012.

The report documents interviews with local residents, law enforcement officers, ranchers and members of tribal communities about alleged anomalous events. Accounts included descriptions of “dog-like bipedal creatures,” glowing orbs, “little people” and birds with a “prehistoric appearance.” The document states that BAASS intended to use interactive methods in an attempt to communicate with the alleged source of the reported activity.

Historical sightings and unexplained reports

The newly released files include two unresolved reports concerning objects observed over Catalina Island, California.

A report dated November 16, 1953, describes a round, white-purple object that remained stationary before moving northwest toward Los Angeles for approximately 10 minutes along a level flight path.

Another report, dated June 25, 1952, records the account of three Boy Scouts who said they saw silver “flying saucers” moving faster than a conventional jet. According to the report, the objects climbed rapidly before apparently disintegrating.

Other documents include a January 1957 report concerning Saudi Arabia, in which the crew of a B-52 bomber said they detected an unidentified return on the aircraft’s gun sight for between five and seven minutes.

Affidavit describes egg-shaped object at Roswell

Another BAASS document contains a sworn statement from 2002 concerning events in Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947.

The person giving the statement, identified as a military base public information officer, claimed he was taken to a guarded hangar where he saw an “egg-shaped” object measuring approximately 3.7 to 4.6 meters long and 1.8 meters high. He said he viewed it from a distance in dim lighting.

He also claimed to have seen two bodies covered by a tarp, with their heads exposed. According to his description, the heads appeared larger than normal, while the bodies were roughly the size of a 10-year-old child.

The witness said he believed the object was a spacecraft and that its occupants came from outer space. These details represent the contents of the sworn statement and do not, by themselves, establish that the object or bodies were extraterrestrial.
