Images circulating on social media show Salvadoran Army paratroopers praying aboard a bus before departing for Haiti, where they are expected to join operations against the 400 Mawozo gang.

According to a source cited in the report, the troops were heading to the airport to board a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft bound for Port-au-Prince, where they would join operations under the Gang Suppression Force (GSF).

The source said the contingent consists of 100 special forces personnel from three units: the CEAT, the Paratrooper Battalion and the Special Operations Group (GOE). The deployment reportedly includes members known as the Comandos Hachas and Comandos Prales.

The report also states that the personnel are carrying M60 machine guns, Arad carbines and Mk22 sniper rifles, alongside their individual weapons.

The deployment comes amid efforts to locate four Salvadoran personnel reportedly kidnapped in Haiti, as security operations against armed gangs continue.
