Spanish health workers help terminally ill patient fulfill her wish to see the sea again

Sílvia’s wish was to see the sea again, and thanks to the dedication of healthcare professionals, she was able to make it happen. The Balearic Islands Health Service (IB-Salut) shared the moving story of a patient who returned to Mallorca’s coast to enjoy a special moment at the beach in Port de Sóller.

In a video shared by the Balearic Islands Health Service, Sílvia can be seen standing by the shore, enjoying the beach and the sea while the SAMU 061 emergency medical team that transported her watches with emotion.

The images highlight how meaningful seemingly simple moments can become for people going through difficult stages of life, showing how a modest wish can turn into an experience filled with personal significance.

“Sílvia’s wish was to see the sea again, and it has come true,” IB-Salut wrote in the post accompanying the video.

The initiative is part of an effort to fulfill the wishes of terminally ill patients and people with significant dependency needs, with the support of healthcare professionals and others who help make these experiences possible.

In Sílvia’s case, the goal was to return to the coast and spend time at the beach in Port de Sóller, creating a special memory through an experience that went beyond medical care.

The health service emphasized the importance of listening to patients, accompanying them and helping make their wishes possible.

“A story that reminds us that caring also means listening, accompanying people and helping make their wishes come true,” IB-Salut said, thanking the healthcare workers and everyone involved in making the experience possible.

Sílvia’s story highlights the importance of recognizing patients’ personal wishes and helping them enjoy meaningful moments in places that hold special significance for them.
