An 18-year-old Texas woman was killed in a violent rollover crash just weeks before her 19th birthday, as newly released surveillance footage shows her vehicle flipping multiple times after leaving the roadway.

Serenity Rangel was driving to her boyfriend’s home in Dallas late Thursday when she lost control of her car, according to reports. Investigators said she was traveling at a high rate of speed before veering off the road, plunging down an embankment and overturning onto a service road.

Surveillance footage shows the vehicle rolling several times before landing on its roof near two parked cars. Rangel was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet announced an official cause of death.

Friends and relatives expressed shock over the tragedy. Her friend Jayla Carrizales questioned what had led to the crash, while Rangel’s family remembered her as a “bright, joyful light” who embraced life and brought happiness to those around her.

Rangel, who would have turned 19 on November 29, had graduated from high school and was attending college. Her family also recalled her love of music, makeup and fashion, saying her laughter, talent and radiant smile would live on in the memories of those who loved her.
