Jerusalem.- The
Israeli Army detained and transferred to the Police two Palestinians arrested in the pastoral community of Masafer Yatta (south of Hebron), detailed a military statement this Wednesday, during a violent attack by dozens of Israeli settlers against them and their homes.
“During the clashes, soldiers detained two Palestinian suspects,” the Army details in a text, after being asked by EFE about what happened yesterday in the Palestinian community on which the 2025 Oscar-winning documentary ‘No Other Land’ is based.
According to the account of activists, paramedics and videos spread on social media, settlers burned parts of some homes, stoned Palestinians and stole livestock in the villages of Khirbet al Fakhit, Khirbet al Halawa and Jalet al Daba.
“The villages of Masafer Yatta are currently suffering a brutal attack. Terrorist settlers are stealing hundreds of sheep, setting villages on fire, and attacking residents. There are no ambulances or fire trucks,” denounced last night on X the co-director of the aforementioned documentary and resident of Masafer Yatta, Basel Adra.
In the herding village of Khirbet al Fakhit, at least two people were injured, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent, which attended to an unconscious young man “with a head wound and severe bleeding” and a girl who suffered a broken hand.
However, the Israeli Army – as usual – gave its own version of events, accusing the Palestinians of having “attacked an Israeli civilian and stolen some of his livestock and belongings” in Khirbet al Halawa; the village where the Palestinians reside.
“At the same time, an additional report was received about the arrival of Israeli civilians (settlers) to the Khirbet al Fakhit area, where multiple clashes had occurred at various points in the area,” the text continues, which says that the forces acted to “disperse the clashes”.
According to the account of activists on the scene and residents, soldiers hindered the arrival of ambulances to attend to the seriously injured. The Israeli Army, questioned by EFE, has not yet commented on this event.
