Trump fires press secretary Katie Zacharia five days after appointment

President Donald Trump dismissed his newly appointed press secretary, Katie Zacharia, on Friday, just five days after naming her to the position. Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had encouraged Zacharia to reconsider whether she wanted to remain in the role, adding that he wanted her to be happy and claiming the media had treated her unfairly.
Zacharia faced criticism following a brief and widely discussed first press appearance and controversy over claims that she had misrepresented her legal credentials. Although she graduated from law school, reports said she had not passed the bar exam required to practice law in the United States. Fox News host Sean Hannity questioned her credentials in an interview, followed by further criticism on Fox & Friends. The episode has renewed questions about staffing decisions and internal turmoil during Trump’s administration.
