Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he will deliver an address to the nation this Monday night, amidst the escalation of hostilities with Iran.
“President Trump will address the nation this Monday at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (01:00 GMT Tuesday). Thank you for your attention!”, he wrote on his Truth Social network.

Trump did not offer details about the content of the message, which comes after he announced this same Monday that the United States will reinstate the maritime blockade on Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The president added that Washington will impose a 20% fee as compensation for protecting vessels from other countries that transit through this key maritime route for global crude oil trade.

These measures come after the United States and Iran have exchanged attacks since last week in the Persian Gulf, which meant the breakdown of the ceasefire agreed upon in the memorandum of understanding signed on June 17.
For its part, the Iranian Army warned this Monday that it will not allow “under any circumstances” for the United States to “interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz,” in response to Trump’s statements.
