The United States has concluded a three-week program in which 10 Haitians received training and exchanged experiences on combating gang violence, as insecurity remains one of the main challenges to Haiti’s stabilization.
The U.S. Embassy in Haiti announced Wednesday on X that the 10 participants had returned to the country after completing the program and meeting with law enforcement professionals, investigators and other specialists.
The group traveled to Washington, D.C., New York, Arizona and California, where they learned about experiences related to the challenges communities face from gang activity, illicit trafficking and transnational crime.
The training was conducted as part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the U.S. State Department’s main professional exchange program, which organizes short-term visits for current and emerging leaders from different countries.
