Two Indian sailors are missing after a drone attack struck the Nicaragua-flagged tanker MT Petro Dolphin near the port of Sohar in northern Oman on October 11. Nine other Indian crew members were rescued and reported safe, according to Indian Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The tanker was carrying 11 Indian seafarers when it came under attack at the Sohar anchorage. Local coast guard teams are conducting search-and-rescue operations, while Indian authorities are coordinating with local officials to locate the missing sailors.

India condemned the attack and expressed concern over repeated incidents targeting commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz region. The country’s Foreign Ministry called for immediate de-escalation and urged all parties to resolve the ongoing conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

The ministry also stressed that attacks on commercial vessels and seafarers must cease, emphasizing the need to protect freedom of navigation and ensure the safe flow of maritime commerce through international waterways.
