At least 46 flights were canceled this Tuesday on routes between the United States and the Dominican Republic due to the effects of the winter storm Ernesto, which affects several states in the northeastern United States.
The National Weather Service warned about the intensity of the phenomenon, calling it one of the strongest storms of the decade, after leaving more than 60 centimeters of snow in that region. In addition, another climatic system originating in the area of the Great Lakes is being monitored.

According to the flight tracking platform
FlightAware, the affected airlines include JetBlue, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and American Airlines, with operations to and from key airports in the northeastern United States.
Among the impacted airports are
John F. Kennedy International Airport, Logan International Airport and
Newark Liberty International Airport. In the Dominican Republic, cancellations were reported from Las Américas International Airport and Cibao International Airport, while Punta Cana International Airport did not register canceled departures.
In total, 24 flights were canceled from the United States to the Dominican Republic, affecting routes to Santo Domingo, Santiago, and Punta Cana.
Airport authorities recommend that passengers check the status of their flights with the airlines before going to the terminals, due to possible changes resulting from weather conditions.
