Zelensky congratulates Ukrainians on fourth Christmas in war and asks for fulfillment of wish for peace

Berlin.- The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, congratulated Ukrainians this Wednesday on the fourth Christmas they are spending at war since the beginning of the Russian invasion and asked that the wish to achieve peace soon be fulfilled.

“On Christmas Eve, the Russians showed once again who they really are. Massive bombings, hundreds of kamikaze drones, ballistic missiles, ‘Kinzhal’ missiles, everything,” he said in his message regarding last night’s Russian attack.

“That’s how those who have absolutely nothing in common with the Christian religion or anything human act,” Zelenskyy denounced. But despite all the difficulties and losses that the war has brought, he said, Russia “is not able to occupy or bomb the most important thing: our Ukrainian heart, our faith in each other, our unity.” The Ukrainian president alluded in his speech to all the families who are separated from their loved ones, whether because they are fighting on the front lines, are in Russian captivity, have died, or have been displaced by the occupation. Zelensky assured that despite the suffering, as long as these people live in the hearts of their loved ones and faith and the desire to continue living persist, evil has no chance of winning.

“Ukrainians have long believed that on Christmas Eve the heavens open. And that, if you tell them your dream, it will surely come true. Today we all have a dream. And we make a wish for everyone,” he affirmed.

“We ask for peace for Ukraine. We fight for it. And we pray for it. And we deserve it. So that every Ukrainian family lives in harmony,” he emphasized. Zelensky concluded by asking for a day to come when Ukrainians can reunite with their families in the first year after the war to enjoy a Christmas in peace and congratulate each other on the birth of Christ.
