Aaron Judge returns to the Yankees’ lineup after coming off the injured list

Arlington, Texas.- The New York Yankees have activated star outfielder Aaron Judge from the injured list this Tuesday, marking his return to the field after a strain in his right elbow flexor that kept him out of action since last July 27.

The return of Judge, current American League Most Valuable Player, comes just before the night game against the Texas Rangers. In addition to the move with Judge, the club also activated reliever Mark Leiter Jr. and promoted Dominican right-hander Yerry de los Santos from the minor leagues.

His impact, undeniable

During the absence of the slugger, the Yankees recorded a 4-6 record, including a sweep suffered against the Marlins last weekend. In that period, the team batted just for .231/.311/.399, evidencing the offensive importance of Judge, who leads Major League Baseball in batting average (.342), on-base percentage (.449), slugging (.711) and OPS (1.160).

“It’s Aaron Judge. We know what he means to our lineup, to the guys in the clubhouse,” stated manager Aaron Boone. “We’re excited to have him back. And hopefully, he’ll be ready to play defense soon too.”

For the time being, Judge is not expected to resume his defensive responsibilities in right field immediately. Boone indicated that they will evaluate his arm condition when the team returns home this Friday to face the Houston Astros.

“Today he did plyometric exercises and will soon start to loosen his arm,” explained the strategist. “His body will tell us when he will be ready to return completely.”
