Alexander Canario and Aaron Brooks, chosen as MVP of the Week in LIDOM

Santo Domingo.— Outfielder Alexander Canario, from the Leones del Escogido, and pitcher Aaron Brooks, from the Toros del Este, were selected this Tuesday as Most Valuable Players of the Week corresponding to the period from December 8 to 15, in the 2025-2026 Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) championship, dedicated to don Juan Marichal and in option for the Copa Banreservas.

It’s the second consecutive time and the third this season that representatives from both franchises share the weekly top honors, reflecting the sustained prominence of Leones and Toros in the tournament. Canario won the award after receiving 49 out of 83 votes (58.3%), surpassing in the vote Raimel Tapia, from Estrellas Orientales, and Héctor Rodríguez. During the evaluated period, the scarlet outfielder participated in four games, connected three home runs, drove in seven runs and stole three bases, leaving an outstanding offensive line of .385/.429/1.077/1.506. In the pitchers’ row, Aaron Brooks prevailed in a close vote against César Valdez, with 33 votes against 30. The Toros’ right-hander worked 6.1 scoreless innings, consolidating himself as one of the most effective pieces of the Romanense pitching during the week. With this distinction, Brooks adds the number 18 award for the Toros del Este since the 2022-2023 season, reaffirming the club’s consistency in LIDOM’s weekly awards.
