Although international reports initially indicated that Jiménez had serious fractures in the femur and spine, a source close to the Romanense organization denied that version and clarified that the pitcher is stable.
“He has no fractures. Only a dislocated ankle and some lacerations”, the source pointed out.

According to preliminary information, the accident involved an SUV — allegedly driven by another Dominican prospect — and two motorcycles, causing the death of Alfredo García (28 years old), Israel Carpio, and Víctor de Jesús. The first press reports spoke of multiple severe traumas, but statements from the La Romana team suggest a less serious picture, although Jiménez will need a prolonged recovery period before returning to the field. The authorities of San Pedro de Macorís are actively investigating the case, with the participation of the National Police, the Digesett and the Inacif, who are working on gathering information to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
