SANTO DOMINGO, RD.– The talented shortstop
Diego Frontado, 17 years old, signed this Thursday his first professional contract as
Pick number one (Pick #1) of the
Milwaukee Brewers, for a bonus of
US$1.6 million, becoming one of the main international signings of the
2025 Class.

Frontado, trained at the
HYL Baseball Academy of the Dominican Republic, formalized his agreement during the
International Signing Day of Major Leagues, held this
January 15, in an event held in his native
Venezuela, after an intense process of preparation and development both in Dominican territory and in his country of origin.
Considered one of the most complete prospects of his generation, the young shortstop is distinguished by his
solid defense at shortstop, exhibiting
soft hands, excellent lateral range and a
strong and precise arm.
“On the offensive, he shows a consistent bat, with power, good discipline and a great projection of development, profiling as a high-impact player in the future,” highlighted
Luis Batista, co-owner of
HYL Baseball Academy, located in the municipality of
Guerra, in the Dominican Republic.
“We can say that, God willing, we will soon see a great star who will leave his mark in the Major Leagues,” he added.
For his part, Harold Diplán, also co-owner of the academy, highlighted that Frontado joined HYL at just 12 years old, showing from the beginning exceptional skills to perform in the center line of the field and a clear profile of a high-level prospect.
“We work on their comprehensive preparation without neglecting their studies. Thanks to their effort and dedication, they developed rapidly, both physically and technically, showing extraordinary skills that promise much for this game that we love so much,” Diplán expressed.
