Miami, USA – The Miami Marlins confirmed this Monday that Dominican pitcher Edward Cabrera was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a sprain in his right elbow, a piece of news that generates concern in the final stretch of the season.

Cabrera, who was recording his best year in Major League Baseball, showed signs of discomfort in his most recent outing, on August 30 against the New York Mets, where he only worked four innings and allowed six runs. Until then, he had accumulated 3.57 ERA, with 140 strikeouts in 128.2 innings and 24 starts, both career-high figures, in addition to a 7-7 record. Marlins manager, Clayton McCullough, acknowledged the concern about the injury: “When it comes to a pitcher’s elbow, there’s always reason to be attentive. We don’t have all the information yet, but we remain optimistic as we await a clearer diagnosis”. Cabrera’s absence adds to a long list of absences in Miami’s rotation, which has already lost Janson Junk, Ryan Gusto, Max Meyer, and Braxton Garrett, all out of action due to various ailments. To make up for these absences, the organization activated moves on its roster, including the promotion from Triple-A Jacksonville of catcher Brian Navarreto and pitchers Luarbert Arias and Michael Petersen. The situation in the Marlins’ bullpen is further complicated after placing Anthony Bender and Tyler Zuber on the 60-day injured list, raising serious questions heading into the end of the season.
