National District gets the first knockout of the Robinson Canó U12 National Tournament

El Toro, San Antonio de Guerra.- The National District surprised San Pedro de Macorís and handed them their first knockout in the start of the 7th National U12 Championship “Robinson Canó Cup” after defeating them 14 runs to 3, with a combined pitching effort from Jandel Manuel Soto and César Enríque Valdez on the grounds of the IPL Academy in this locality of Santo Domingo Este.

Soto and Valdez combined to tie up the bats of the Petromacorisanos and limit them to just 5 singles against the 11 that the capitalinos connected, while Brito went yard and Solís did the same, but on two occasions in the game.

The National District scored 7 runs in the second inning, one in the third, and six in the bottom of the fifth, while the three runs for San Pedro in the loss came in the top of the fourth.

The standouts for the District, William Solis 2-for-3, with two home runs, scored 3 and drove in 3, drew a walk, followed by Isaac Brito, who also cleared the fence and hit a double in three official at-bats, scored 2 and had 3 RBIs, Carlos Tomas 2-for-3, double, 1 R, 1 RBI.

For San Pedro de Macorís, Leandro Guillén had a double and a single in three at-bats, Weyland Valdez went 1-for-3 with 1 run scored, and Yoenis Laureano had a single in two at-bats, one run scored, and a walk.

At the end of the day, the Santo Domingo Province surprises the Duarte team.

The Province of Santo Domingo, coming from behind, scored a cluster of five runs in the 5th inning, which were enough to eliminate the Duarte team and secure a 5-3 victory in the game that marked the close of the first day of action in the Robinson Canó U12 National Championship.

Duarte took control of the game in the second inning with two runs, adding another in the top of the fourth, but the current champions, Santo Domingo province, made their presence felt in the bottom of the fifth, taking definitive control of the match, which included a home run by catcher Ezequiel Pérez.

Standing out for Santo Domingo were Moisés Martínez going 3-for-1, 1 R, 2 RBI; Daniel Paniagua hit a single in three at-bats, with one run scored and one RBI, Ezequiel Pérez went 3-for-1, one run scored, a home run and an RBI; and Cristhofer Martínez with a double and a single in two at-bats and one run scored.

For Duarte, Francisco Faña went 3-for-1 with two runs scored, Hansel Espinal, a double in four at-bats; and Matteo López went 2-for-1, with an RBI and a walk.

This Thursday’s matches.

For the second day of action, at 9:00 a.m., a clash of the undefeated, Distrito Nacional (1-0) vs. Bahoruco (1-0), followed by, at 11:30 in the morning, Valverde (1-0) faces Duarte (0-1).

San Pedro (0-1) faces Santiago (0-1) at 1:30 p.m., while the last game of the afternoon is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be between the teams of Santo Domingo (1-0) and Peravia (0-1).

All matches are broadcast live by the Panorama Media Group and VTV Channel 32 as part of the cooperation alliance between the entity and the Dominican Baseball Federation Inc. (Fedom).

The 2026 competition is specially dedicated to the director of Dasac, Edgar Augusto Féliz Arbona.

The 7th U12 National Championship “Robinson Canó Cup” also has the support of the IPL Academy, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec), the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Feeding (Dasac), and the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services (OMSA).
