National District is proclaimed champion of the 2026 Robinson Canó Cup

Silver for Valverde and the Santo Domingo province took the third-place trophy home at the 7th version of the Fedom U12 National.

El Toro, San Antonio de Guerra.- The National District is celebrating; it is proclaimed champion of the seventh version of the U12 National Championship “Robinson Canó Cup” by defeating the Valverde team 6-3 in an exciting finale that brought two undefeated teams to face each other for the first time in the competition dedicated to Dr. Edgar Augusto Féliz, which was held on the grounds of the IPL Academy, packed with fans from both locations who went to support their own.

This is the first time the National District has reached a “Robinson Canó” final, but the wait was worth it; today they lift the long-awaited championship trophy that eight teams had been dreaming of since last June 10th.

The capital team took control of the match in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs; then, in the third, Valverde responded with two more to tie the game; then, at the end of that inning, Ezequiel Rodríguez hit a solo home run for the District to retake the lead 3-2 at that moment.

Two more for the District in the bottom of the fourth, Valverde scored their last run in the fifth, and in that same inning, the champions put their name on the championship trophy.

And as promised, the head of the Dominican Baseball Federation Inc. (Fedom), Juan Núñez, presented the champion team, the National District, with not only the medals and the trophy, but they also took home the rings that will be awarded to the first-place team starting this year, and they will also receive a prize of one hundred thousand pesos to continue the development of baseball.

The Santo Domingo province, who until today were called two-time champions, took third place by defeating the South’s representative, the Bahoruco team, 12-7, in an exciting game with many hits that kept those attending this first match of the grand final on their feet in the stands.

Santo Domingo reached the third inning dominating the match 7-2, and then Bahoruco produced four in the fourth and tied the match in the top of the fifth at seven apiece, but those from the province did not stay behind and in the bottom of the fifth they crossed the plate five times to seal their return to the podium, but this year with the bronze medal.
