Chicago, Illinois .— Major League Baseball announced that the
2027 All-Star Game will be played on
July 13 at the iconic
Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, marking the return of the Midsummer Classic to this venue for the first time since 1990.

With its characteristic ivy-covered walls and more than a century of history, Wrigley Field is considered one of baseball’s cathedrals. Over the last decade, the Cubs have carried out a deep renovation of both the stadium and its surroundings, transforming Wrigleyville into a top-tier sports and tourist destination.
“The hard work invested in transforming Wrigleyville into an exceptional destination deserves to be celebrated and shared on a national stage,” expressed MLB Commissioner, Rob Manfred, who highlighted that the event will leave a lasting impact on the communities of Chicago through the initiatives of the All-Star Legacy program.
The announcement ceremony was attended by Cubs executive chairman,
Tom Ricketts, Illinois Governor,
JB Pritzker, Chicago Mayor,
Brandon Johnson, former players and team officials.
“It’s an honor for our team, our city, and our state. We play in a world-class city, especially beautiful in the summer, and we are eager to welcome the best players and fans in the world,” said Ricketts.
A Story of Tradition
This will be the
fourth time the Cubs will host the All-Star Game, adding to the editions of
1947, 1962 and 1990. With this, Wrigley Field will join Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium and the old Yankee Stadium in New York as the only stadiums to receive the event on four occasions.
In the last edition held in Chicago (1990), local figures
Ryne Sandberg and
Andre Dawson were part of the National League’s starting lineup, and Sandberg took the title of the Home Run Derby. The recent announcement has an emotional tinge, as it comes a few days after the death of Sandberg, a Hall of Fame member, remembered for his legacy on and off the field.

Philadelphia Phillies will host the 2026 All-Star Game, commemorating the
250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.
