LA ROMANA.- One of the best relievers from last season will be back, after the Toros del Este announced that reliever Joe Corbett will return for the 2025-26 season.

The announcement was made by Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Toros, while confirming that the North American will be the entire season, without restrictions.
In 2024-25, Corbett participated in 23 games with the Toros and in 19.2 innings he barely allowed 9 hits, only gave 4 walks and struck out 23, with a record of 1-0, 1.37 and an adjusted effectiveness of 279, 179% above the league average.
The right-hander then reinforced the Lions in the postseason, being a vital part of the Escogido championship. Between Round Robin and the Final Series, Corbett pitched 11.2 innings without allowing runs, giving up only 3 walks and striking out 14 opponents.
In combination with both teams, Corbett had an effectiveness of 0.87 in 31.1 innings with 37 strikeouts and a WHIP of 0.80.
“He is a premium reliever returning home, coming to significantly strengthen the bullpen. He is called to be one of the main late-game arms for the team from the first day of the season,” said Jesús Mejía at the time of making the announcement.
This summer, the Oklahoma City native stood out in Mexico with the Leones de Yucatán, striking out 23 in 21.1 innings, where he was hit 21 hits and gave 7 walks, with an ERA of 4.64 in the Mexican offensive league, where the collective earned run average was 6.19.
Corbett joins the left-handed Matt Dermody and also right-handed starter Jaime Barria as reinforcements announced by the Toros del Este. They will be joining a renewed roster that includes the starters Sandberg Pimentel and Ronald Guzman, the left-handers José Manuel Fernández and Joely Rodríguez, and the right-handers Jesús Liranzo, Yohan Ramírez and Janser Lara, acquired from free agency. Also joining are reliever Miguel Castro and outfielder Marco Luciano, who arrived via trade.
Jesús Mejía and his Baseball Operations staff are working towards the LIDOM Rookie Draft, which will take place next Wednesday, September 10th.
Previously, the Bulls had announced the start of their preseason training for Monday, September 22, with an Early Camp from the 15th, aimed at players who require more time to be in shape for the Opening Day.
