Chicago (USA). – The veteran point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers, Chris Paul, announced this Saturday that he will end his brilliant career in the NBA at the end of the current season, thus closing a career of 21 years in the best basketball league in the world.

“Back to North Carolina! What a journey… Still a lot left… Grateful for this last part!!”, Paul wrote on his X account, confirming his decision hours before facing the Charlotte Hornets, in the state where he was born and raised. At 40 years old, Paul is playing his 21st season since his debut in 2005 with the then New Orleans Hornets. With a career marked by consistency, leadership, and recognition, the point guard accumulated 12 All-Star Game appearances, was Rookie of the Year in 2006, and became one of the most influential playmakers of his generation. The player, who also played with franchises such as the Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, also has two Olympic gold medals and managed to reach the NBA Finals in 2021, where he fell to the Milwaukee Bucks. Although he never lifted the coveted champion’s ring, Paul will have this last season to try to complete his record before definitively saying goodbye to the duels.
