SANTO DOMINGO.- Luismal Ferreiras was the winner of the Most Valuable Player award of the LNB Super League, following his great performance with the Gigantes Basketball Club in the 2026 season of the LNB Super League

Ferreiras participated in 16 regular season games and averaged 19.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 59.8 percent from the field, 1.4 assists, and 0.8 blocks, helping his team finish with a 12-4 record in the first stage.

A total of 57 journalists were selected to cast their votes for the 2026 LNB awards, of which 34 preferred the native of San Francisco de Macorís. He surpassed Andersson García, of the Marineros de Puerto Plata, who finished second with 14 first-place votes.

The LNB Super League implemented a different voting process this year, in which the first-place vote was worth five points, the second-place vote three points, and the third-place vote one point. Ferreiras totaled 223 points and Andersson Garcia followed him with 128. Francis King Fitzgerald, also from the Gigantes, finished third with 73 points.

The Rookie of the Year award was easily won by Reggie Quezada, of the Leones de Santo Domingo, who received 50 first-place votes and 261 in total, surpassing Daurin Rosario (161 pts.), of the Soles del Este, and Eddy Mercedes (91 pts.), of the Gigantes. He averaged 19.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 16 games.

The Most Improved Player award fell into the hands of Eusebio Suero, of the Cañeros del Este. He achieved 25 first-place votes and 193 points, finishing ahead of Xavier Reyes (173 pts.) and Andrés Fulgencio (147 pts.). Suero recorded 14.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 16 games.

Xavier Reyes did indeed win Sixth Man of the Year, securing 29 first-place votes and 209 points. He finished ahead of Luis Félix (177 pts.), from the Marineros de Puerto Plata, and Oliver García (127 pts.), from the Metros de Santiago. His performance consisted of 12.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over 16 games.

The Defensive Player of the Year award went easily to Andersson García, as he received 30 first-place votes and 189 points. Jayson Valdez (94 pts.), from the Héroes de Moca, and Juan Jr. Rosario (85 pts.), from the Gigantes, followed him. García excelled with 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks in 35.9 minutes per game over 11 matchdays.

In what was the closest vote, Víctor Peña took home the Manager of the Year award, despite receiving the same number of first-place votes (19) as Melvyn López of the Metros and Jonathan Matos of the Héroes. In points, Peña obtained 181, López 179, and Matos 153. The record for the manager of the team from San Francisco de Macorís was 12-4.
