SANTO DOMINGO.– The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal) announced this Wednesday the senior men’s national pre-selection team, composed of 36 players, with a view to the commitments corresponding to the Third Qualifying Window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, scheduled for July 3 and 6 in the Dominican capital.

The call was presented by Rafael Uribe, president of Fedombal, and Junior Páez, general manager of the national team, who reported that the final roster of 12 players who will represent the country in the matches against the United States and Nicaragua will be selected from this group.
The matches will be played at the renovated Professor Virgilio Travieso Soto “BanReservas” Arena, both at 8:00 p.m., in a crucial stage for the Dominican aspirations to advance to the next round of the qualifying process. The Dominican Republic shares the lead of Group A with the United States, both with a 3-1 record. Mexico occupies the third position with a 2-2 record, while Nicaragua remains winless (0-4).

Among the most prominent names in the preliminary roster are NBA players Al Horford and Karl-Anthony Towns, as well as Jean Montero, Andrés Feliz, Chris Duarte, Ángel Luis Delgado, Lester Quiñones, Jassel Pérez, Joel Soriano, and Luis David Montero, among other players who compete in major international leagues.
The list also includes Andersson García, Ángel Núñez, Anyeuri Castillo, Chris Mañón, David Jones, Diego Colón, Eloy Vargas, Eusebio Suero, Gelvis Solano, Jhery Matos, Jonathan Bello, Juan Guerrero, Juan Miguel Suero, Koby Brea, LJ Figueroa, Luis Santos, Luismal Ferreiras, Omar Silverio, Rafael Castro, Randy Bautista, Rey Abad, Richard Bautista, RJ Luis, Víctor Liz and Yaxel Lendeborg.
Fedombal reported that training will begin next Monday, June 22, under the direction of Argentine coach Néstor “Che” García, who will continue to lead the national team in search of qualifying for what would be the Dominican Republic’s fourth consecutive participation in a World Cup.
The Dominican national team arrives at this window in a favorable position within the continental standings, with the goal of securing their advancement to the next phase and moving closer to a new World Cup appearance. In the American continent, 16 national teams are competing for seven spots for Qatar 2027.
The matches against the United States and Nicaragua represent an opportunity for the Dominican team to strengthen its lead and maintain the momentum shown during the first qualifying windows, supported by a generation of players that combines international experience and emerging talent.
