Santo Domingo. — The NBA Cup championship had a meaning for Karl-Anthony Towns that goes beyond sports. The New York Knicks center announced that he will donate entirely to the Dominican Republic the
US$530,000 he received as a prize after winning the mid-season tournament, funds that will be allocated to community programs and housing projects through his foundation.

The Knicks were crowned champions after defeating
124-113 the San Antonio Spurs in the final held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, a result that made the New York franchise the third to lift the NBA Cup trophy and secured each player an economic incentive of more than half a million dollars.
Despite experiencing discomfort in his calf, Towns was a key player in the decisive match. The 30-year-old player finished with
16 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals, making six of his 12 field goal attempts, in a game of high physical demand and offensive pace.
