WASHINGTON.– The stellar power forward Anthony Davis, ten-time All-Star selection, is heading into a new chapter in his career after being traded to the Washington Wizards in an eight-player exchange with the Dallas Mavericks, according to coinciding reports from multiple media outlets.

Davis, who averages
20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 20 games this season, has been out of action since mid-January due to a
ligament tear in his left hand. The player will not require surgery and is still within the estimated recovery time of four to six weeks from the time of the injury.
The power forward suffered the injury while defending a drive by
Lauri Markkanen in the final minutes of Dallas’ 116-114 loss to the Utah Jazz.
A New Nucleus in Washington
With Davis’ arrival, the Wizards continue to strengthen their project after acquiring
All-Star Trae Young last month. Young remains out with a right knee injury and quadriceps contusion, with a return expected after the All-Star break.
Once both are healthy, Washington will have a core led by
Davis and Young, complemented by the young center
Alex Sarr, in addition to emerging talents such as
Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington and Bilal Coulibaly, along with the outstanding rookie
Tre Johnson.
Injury History and Outlook in Dallas
This is Davis’s
second extended absence of the season, after missing 15 of 16 games in November due to a calf strain, in addition to a groin injury previously suffered.
Since his arrival in Dallas in February of last year, Davis has had an intermittent health record, missing
40 of the team’s 71 games, including the two Play-In Tournament games of last season.
For the Mavericks, the move represents a clear focus on the development of the
star rookie Cooper Flagg, freeing up space in the interior rotation. All players acquired by Dallas could become
free agents this summer, while the franchise evaluates the future of point guard
