TBS 2025 Organizing Committee Announces Extensive Security Measures

SANTO DOMINGO, RD.- The Organizing Committee of the Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS 2025) announced this Friday the implementation of a large security device that will guarantee order and tranquility during the celebration of the 49th edition of the most important sporting event in the capital.

The Ministry of Defense, through official letter No. 36519 signed by Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, of the Dominican Republic Army, approved the integration of 50 members of the Armed Forces to provide direct support for the security of the tournament. Similarly, the National Police, under the instructions of its director, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, will have a large contingent of agents to ensure order before, during, and after each match, inside and outside the Ricardo -Gioriver- Arias Volleyball Palace. “The entire basketball family can be certain that they are attending a properly secured event, where they can enjoy themselves in peace,” Guzmán Peralta assured. Likewise, the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett), headed by its director general Pascual Cruz Méndez, has deployed a special team of agents to facilitate traffic on the avenues and streets surrounding the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, as well as in its internal accesses. The security scheme also contemplates the integration of private security, which will work jointly with the National Police for internal control in the sports facility. The TBS 2025 security area is coordinated by Anderson Uribe Berigüete; National Police Captain Miguel Omar Quirico Hernández; and Police Colonel Martín de Jesús Bernard Rodríguez. This effort is supported by the Ministry of Sports, which will have its own control and protection framework at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. TBS Commissioner Nelson Ramírez highlighted that the security device has been conceived as a priority, in order to ensure that the tournament takes place in a safe environment for players, leaders, and fans. “This major operation is the best guarantee that all attendees will be able to enjoy the basketball spectacle in peace and with the necessary security,” Ramírez stressed.
