Billy Berroa considers Wander Franco will be convicted of sexual abuse

Santo Domingo.- Sports journalist Billy Berroa considered this Tuesday that the suspended Dominican baseball player of the Tampa Bay Rays, Wander Franco, will be convicted of sexual abuse against a 14-year-old minor, due to the amount of evidence against him.

According to the chronicler, the fact that the minor’s mother is involved and charged in the case is a disadvantage for Franco. “Yes, I believe so, I believe so, because the mother who received money is involved”, Berroa answered when questioned by the program’s commentator team Matutino Su Mundo. However, the baseball player’s defense argues that there is no way to prove that he gave money to the minor’s mother.

He regretted Franco’s situation, since, in his opinion, these issues do not add anything to the country’s image. He indicated that disclosures on digital platforms sometimes influence the justice system to make incorrect decisions.

About the contract with Tampa

He explained that Wander Franco is currently suspended by the team on a restricted list and is not receiving money from the $182 million contract he signed with the Tampa Bay Rays franchise. However, he considered that the Rays might be willing to give Franco another chance if he is acquitted of the case. He also explained that Major League organizations have a certain standard regarding cases of abuse against women, whether sexual or physical, so the possibility is that the League will not allow his return.

The court in Puerto Plata is scheduled to hear the sentence on the accusation of sexual abuse against Wander Franco this Thursday, June 26th.
