Caribbean Queens win bronze in Final Six by defeating Puerto Rico 3-2 in Mexico

Gualajara,- The Dominican Republic’s sextet defeated Puerto Rico 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-13) this Sunday in a close match to win the bronze medal of the Final Six NORCECA 2025 Tournament.

The Dominican attack was led by Madeline Guillén, who scored 24 points, followed by Alondra Tapia with 17 and Massiel Matos with 13. Yaneiris Rodríguez, the libero, had an excellent defensive game. The national team is supported by the Ministry of Sports and Farmacias GBC. For Puerto Rico, Decelise Champión was the most outstanding with 25 points, Valeria Vázquez had 17 points, and Neria Ortíz contributed 14. The winners took the first set 25-22, however, there was a violent reaction from the Puerto Ricans who took the next two sets. But, in the fourth set, Madeline Guillén put on her heroine’s cape and with strong spikes managed to tie the match at two apiece. Alondra Tapia and the middle blockers Geraldine González and Florangel Terreno also performed well offensively, contributing key points at the end of the set. In the fifth, it was also a close game that reached 14-12 in favor of the Dominican Republic. Puerto Rico managed to get to 14-13, but the criollas finished to take the match. In the game statistics, the Dominicans dominated in attack 63-61, in blocking Puerto Rico 16-13.
