SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) announced this Monday the program of activities that will take place during the celebration of Olympic Day, to be held on Sunday the 21st of this month in Ciudad Juan Bosch.
The information was released by Luis Chanlatte, Secretary General of the COD and Executive Director of the Olympic Solidarity program, who led a working meeting to establish the logistics for the activity, which will commemorate the 132nd anniversary of the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Participating in the meeting, in addition to Chanlatte, were engineer Pedro Julio Quezada, director of the Olympic Academy; Henry Rodríguez, director of Sports for Ciudad Juan Bosch; Luisito Pie, president of the Ciudad Juan Bosch Sports Association, and Eva Durán, director of Projects for the Olympic Solidarity program.
Olympic Day is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. with the tree planting session, while a mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Hermanas Mirabal School church, and the traditional walk will take place at 11:00 a.m.
Once the walk is concluded, sports activities will begin, and the awards ceremony and closing are scheduled for 3:00 in the afternoon at the Juan Bosch City Amphitheater.

The sports activities program includes competitions and exhibitions in disciplines such as basketball, cycling, skating, duathlon, kidboxing, handball, baseball, softball, taekwondo, and volleyball.
Luis Chanlatte, who pointed out that Olympic Day will be held with the support of the Olympic Solidarity program, highlighted that bringing this celebration to Juan Bosch City is an initiative that arose within the COD executive committee.
The sports organization has extended an invitation to personalities and entities linked to sports, as well as to sports federations and the Sports Union of the Santo Domingo province.
