SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Republic continued to expand its medal haul at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, by winning one silver and three bronze medals in judo, in addition to a bronze in bowling and another silver in rowing during this Monday’s session.

In judo, Jaime Nova took home the silver medal in the +100 kilogram category, after advancing to the final with an ippon victory over the Mexican Sergio del Sol. In the gold medal match, he fell to the Cuban Andy Granda, thus adding the third Central American medal of his career, following the silver obtained in Barranquilla 2018 and the bronze won in San Salvador 2023.
The bronze medals were secured by Eiraima Silvestre and Moira Morillo. Silvestre, in the -78 kilogram category, began the competition with an ippon victory in just 12 seconds over the Venezuelan Zunilda Chávez, advanced to the semifinals, and secured third place by defeating the Mexican Liliana Cárdenas by yuko.
For her part, Morillo won the bronze in the +78 kilogram division. After falling in her first match to Venezuelan Karen León, she recovered in the repechage with an ippon victory over Salvadoran Camila Rugamas and sealed the medal by defeating Bahamian Hanna Karra, also by ippon.

In bowling, Alejandro Prats won the bronze medal in the singles event by knocking down 1,402 pins in six games. The experienced athlete expressed that the medal has a special meaning, as he had come close to the podium in two previous editions of the Games.
Meanwhile, in rowing, Ignacio Vásquez added a new silver medal for the Dominican delegation by finishing second in the men’s single sculls event, with a time of 7:25.69. This is his second medal at Santo Domingo 2026, following the silver obtained alongside Carlos Rodríguez in the lightweight men’s double sculls.
With these results, the Dominican Republic continues to strengthen its position in the overall medal table and maintains momentum in its role as host of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
