SANTO DOMINGO. The senior judo teams of the Dominican Republic traveled to Porto Alegre, Brazil, to complete the final stage of preparation for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, reported the Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo).
The Dominican judokas have been training since June 30th at the SOGIPA Center facilities, where they will remain until July 20th, refining their technical and physical aspects before the regional event.
The president of Fedojudo, Gilberto García, explained that this training camp represents the final phase of the preparation process.
“This is the final stage of preparation. Upon their return, the athletes will enter the Central American and Caribbean Village,” stated García.
The leader highlighted that the camp has been made possible thanks to the support of the Dominican Government, led by President Luis Abinader, through the Ministry of Sports, directed by Kelvin Cruz.
For his part, the federation’s technical director, Wilkin Ogando, indicated that the national teams will work under the supervision of a highly qualified technical staff with the goal of arriving at the competition in optimal condition.
The women’s team is made up of Moira Morillo (+78 kg), Ana Rosa (-57 kg), Eiraima Silvestre (-78 kg), Estefanía Soriano (-48 kg), Esmeralda Damiano (-70 kg), Creymarlin Valdez (-63 kg) and Samantha Josefa (-52 kg).
The men’s division includes Robert Florentino (-90 kg), José Nova (+100 kg), Medickson del Orbe (-81 kg), Oscar Javier Santana (-100 kg), Diego García (-60 kg), Heriberto de Aza (-66 kg), Elmert Ramírez (-66 kg) and Maikor Loui (-73 kg).
The delegation is also composed of coaches Juan Carlos Jacinto and Wander Mateo, as well as physiotherapist Dalver de los Santos.
The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8, bringing together the best athletes in the region in the Dominican capital.
