Mbappé and the Real Madrid squad bid farewell to Xabi Alonso after his departure from the club

MADRID (EFE).– Several Real Madrid players, led by Kylian Mbappé, publicly expressed their gratitude and support for coach Xabi Alonso, after his dismissal was confirmed following the defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The French striker posted a message on his social media along with an image shaking hands with the Spanish coach.
“It has been short, but it has been a pleasure to play for you and learn from you. Thank you for giving me confidence from day one. I will remember you as a coach with clear ideas and a lot of knowledge of football. Good luck in your next chapter,” wrote Mbappé.

Messages of support from the locker room

One of the most emotional messages was from midfielder Arda Güler, who highlighted Xabi Alonso’s impact on his professional growth.
“Thank you for believing in me and trusting me from day one. Every conversation and every demand helped me improve as a player. Your influence will always remain with me”, expressed the Turkish footballer.

Also joining in were Dani Ceballos and goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who agreed in wishing the former Real Madrid coach success. “With your ambition and your way of seeing football, only great things await you,” wrote Ceballos, while Lunin added: “You are a great coach and you are going to achieve many successes.” For his part, Dean Huijsen thanked “everything experienced”, and Aurélien Tchouaméni highlighted having learned from “one of the best ever”. Rodrygo Goes also left a message of gratitude for the trust and learning received.

The team’s second captain, Federico Valverde, highlighted the coaching staff’s attitude.
“I wish you the best, mister, to you and the entire coaching staff who always had a great attitude. Success in whatever comes,” wrote the Uruguayan midfielder.

Surprise in the club’s environment

The defender Jesús Vallejo, currently at Albacete, stated in declarations to RNE that Xabi Alonso’s dismissal took the squad by surprise.
“It was unexpected for everyone. Madrid competed until the end in the Super Cup and had chances to tie,” he pointed out. Vallejo also referred to the new coach, Álvaro Arbeloa, of whom he said that he knows the club’s environment well and was always a good representative of Real Madrid.
