SAN CRISTÓBAL.- Universidad O&M took advantage of the home field and defeated Cibao FC 2-1 in a match of the 5th matchday of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF 2025-2026), held at the Panamericano stadium in San Cristóbal, in the event dedicated to the memory of José Rafael Abinader.

The students’ goals were scored by Julen Olasagasti and Herard Frantzety, while the orange goal was scored by Ángel Pérez, who came on as a substitute.
With the result, the Omeyanos went up to double digits with 10 points, the product of 3 victories, one defeat and one draw, while Cibao FC stayed with 9 units, with 3 successes and 2 failures.
The defending champions looked slow and out of rhythm, apparently as a result of playing 7 games in 22 days, with 630 minutes, including two international matches in the Caribbean Cup and a trip to Barbados.
It was in the 30th minute when the Cibao FC boys threatened the opposing territory, when Carlos “Caballo” Ventura sent a ball that crossed in front of the goal, quite close to Rivaldo Correa who watched it pass without reacting.
In the second half, the Cibaeños were more active, managing several shots on goal, which put the university goalkeeper in motion.
In the 37th minute, Cibao FC moved the ball near their goal, which ended up at the feet of Julen Olasagasti, who deposited the ball into the back of the net to put O&M ahead 1-0.
That’s how they went to halftime, there were no more goals in the remaining minutes, plus three that the referee added, although Carlos “Caballo” Ventura unleashed a powerful shot as the first half expired.
For the complementary time, Cibao FC came out with the same eleven players who started the match and played the first half.
It was barely the 47th minute when the second goal occurred, scored by Herard Frantzety for 2-0.
The first change for the orange eleven was a double substitution, with Javier Roces and Walter Acuña coming in, and Leonardo Villalba and José Conesa going out.
The player Ángel Pérez, who had a “hat trick” in a match, came on for the visitors in the 68th minute for Gonzalo Alarcón.

The other 10 who completed the eleven were Captain Joan Melo, Julen Olasagasti, Jon Trincado, Herard Frantzety, Isaac Báez, Julen Manterola, Reyvin De la Rosa and Gabriel Castillo.
