Serbia defeats the Queens of the Caribbean 3-0 in the Volleyball Nations League

Philippines. — The Serbian women’s national team won in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, and 25-18) this Friday against the Dominican Republic, in the continuation of the second week of competition for Group 5 of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL), a tournament organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

With this result, the Dominicans suffer their sixth defeat of the tournament, while Serbia achieved their second victory in the current edition of the VNL.

The Dominican team featured the presence of its captain, Brayelin Martínez, as well as Gaila González, who saw more minutes on the court and contributed offensive intensity during the match.

The Serbian offensive was led by Anja Subic, who scored 16 points. Nina Cajic also stood out with 10 units and Branka Tica with nine.

For the Caribbean squad, Geraldine González led the offense with 11 points, followed by Jineirys Martínez with 10. Brayelin Martínez and Gaila González contributed eight points each.

In collective statistics, Serbia dominated the offensive category 42-37, while both teams finished tied in blocks with eight each.

During the first set, Serbia set their pace early on, achieving an 18-11 lead thanks to solid defense, effective blocks, and consistent attacks from different areas of the court. The Dominican Republic showed difficulties in reacting at key moments.

In the second set, the Dominicans raised their competitive level and showed greater aggressiveness in both attack and defense, keeping the score close. However, errors in blocking allowed Serbia to maintain control of the game with timely attacks from Subic and Cajic.

Already in the third set, Serbia took command again with a powerful offense and few unforced errors, extending their lead until sealing the match with a score of 25-18.

The Queens of the Caribbean will return to the court this Saturday to face the Japan team at 8:00 in the morning, Dominican time, in search of regaining ground in the tournament.
