BRASILIA, BRAZIL. — The captain of the Women’s National Volleyball Team, Brayelin Martínez, stated that the Queens of the Caribbean are physically and mentally prepared to begin their participation in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) this Wednesday, when they face Turkey at 12:00 noon, in a match corresponding to Group 2 of the prestigious tournament organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The Dominican team, ranked number 11 in the world, concluded its training in the city of Brasilia with great enthusiasm and focused on starting its journey in the international competition on the right foot.
Martínez highlighted that the team completed an intense preparation base for six days in Barueri, São Paulo, before moving last Monday to Brasília, the host city for the first stage of the VNL.

“I believe the team arrives well prepared, both physically and mentally. There is excellent harmony within the group and a high level of commitment and focus from all the players,” expressed the star Dominican spiker.
The captain explained that the team is going through an integration process due to the addition of new athletes and the gradual return of players who finished commitments in different international leagues.
“We are looking to find our best rhythm of play, strengthen our collective chemistry, and give participation to all members to continue growing as a team. We have patience, confidence, and a lot of faith in what we can achieve,” added Brayelin.

The Queens of the Caribbean will have a demanding schedule in this first phase of the tournament. On Thursday, June 4, they will face Brazil, number two in the world, at 8:00 p.m.; while on Friday the 5th, they will face Bulgaria, ranked 25th in the world, at 3:30 p.m.
After a day off on June 6, the Dominicans will close this stage on the 7th by facing the Netherlands, eighth in the world ranking, at 10:00 in the morning.
The second week of competition for the Dominican Republic will begin on June 17 in the Philippines, where they will debut against the United States.
Objective: defend the regional crown
After concluding its participation in the Nations League, the Dominican team’s major challenge will be defending the gold medal at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
“We are going for our seventh consecutive title in a Central American and Caribbean Games, and this time it will be even more special because we will be playing at home, in front of our fans,” stated Brayelin Martínez.
The captain assured that the team will work to stay healthy and compete at the highest level against any rival, highlighting that in high-performance sports there are no small opponents.
