Every March 18th, World Youth Rheumatology Day is commemorated, a date dedicated to raising awareness about rheumatic conditions that impact children and adolescents, often silently and unobtrusively. Rheumatic diseases encompass a group of disorders that can cause pain, inflammation, and limitation in the joints, as well as affecting other organs of the body. Among the most common in the youth population are juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and juvenile dermatomyositis. Specialists highlight the importance of identifying symptoms early, including pain or swelling in the joints, morning stiffness, constant fatigue, and prolonged fever without an apparent cause. Early diagnosis allows for the initiation of appropriate treatments that significantly improve the quality of life of patients.
