“Doctor warns about replacing in-person medical consultations with Artificial Intelligence”

Santo Domingo, DR.– Medical law and forensic medicine specialist, Leonardo Andujar Záiter, warned about the risks of replacing in-person medical consultations with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, stating that this technology should not replace the evaluation performed by a healthcare professional.

The doctor and lawyer explained that, although Artificial Intelligence has become an increasingly integrated tool in modern medical care, patients should not assume its responses as a definitive diagnosis or as a final decision when treating an illness.

Andujar Záiter maintained that AI should be used solely as a source of guidance or complementary consultation, since proper diagnosis and treatment must be determined by a specialist after a comprehensive clinical evaluation.

The expert expressed concern about the growing number of people turning to technological platforms as a substitute for professional medical care, a practice that, he claimed, could put patients’ health at risk.

Likewise, he reiterated the importance of preserving in-person consultations and human medical judgment, considering that no technological tool can replace the experience, clinical judgment, and direct interaction between the doctor and the patient.
