Santiago.- President Luis Abinader delivered this Friday the general renovation and the new Emergency area of the Dr. Antonio Trueba Monte Adentro Peripheral Hospital, in Santiago, for the strengthening of the Public Health Services Network.
The infrastructure, which transitions from deterioration to modernity, features, inside, new and modern medical equipment that will allow for humanizing and dignifying the services for the community of Monte Adentro and surrounding areas.
“From now on, there will be better health in Monte Adentro”, said the head of State, also reporting that this involves the renovation of health center number 113, out of the 200 second and third-level care centers in the national territory.
For his part, the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio Landrón, highlighted that this work represents a significant step in strengthening the hospital network of Santiago and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to the health of the population. “Today, this hospital has everything a health center needs to safeguard lives,” he pointed out.
In addition, he added that, in the first five months of this year, the Public Health Network has provided more than 20 million services to all Dominicans and highlighted the salary increase that has been given to the health sector in these six years of Government.

Regarding primary healthcare centers, he said that more than 1,700 were abandoned and to date more than 1,000 have been renovated, with the goal of reaching all of them by 2028.
New Emergency department and renovation of Dr. Antonio Trueba Hospital
During the intervention of this hospital center, a new Emergency area was built with a waiting room, registration, triage office, treatment area, nebulization room, three observation beds, and a resuscitation bay, strengthening the response capacity for emergency situations.

The renovated areas include an operating room, a neonatal unit equipped with three cribs and two incubators, a delivery room, pre-surgical and post-surgical areas, sterilization, four medical offices, laboratories, sample collection, a dentistry module, a vaccination area, X-rays, sonography, two nursing stations, a laundry room, a kitchen, and general service areas.
Likewise, access to the morgue was enabled, a solid waste shed, perimeter fence, protective grating, and septic tank were built, a medium-voltage system was installed, and the existing sanitary system was refurbished. The intervention represented a total investment of RD 103,940,212.96.
