The official also oversees progress on the construction of the Judicial City in Santo Domingo Oeste.
Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader led this Sunday the inauguration of the new administrative building of the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator, located on Prolongación 27 de Febrero, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Oeste, as part of the transformation and modernization process of that institution.
During the event, the executive vice president of the OMSA, Onésimo González, highlighted that thanks to the vision of President Abinader, the entity now has equipped infrastructure, comparable to that of any private company.
González thanked the president for providing the institution with a building that dignifies the public employee and strengthens the conditions to offer a better service to users.
He indicated that the Control and Inspection Center will operate in the new building, as part of the process initiated seven months ago to improve the quality of service, starting with its personnel and the attention that citizens will receive.
He explained that, as part of the OMSA transformation, 200 new buses will be integrated, with the aim of placing the service at the level of public transport in cities such as Santiago de Chile, Bogotá and Mexico City.
He also assured that a combination of new units and electromobility will be implemented in order to reduce waiting times at stops and improve the passenger experience.
Bisonó highlights the impact of the work
From his side, the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), Víctor Bisonó, stated that with the delivery of the work, the space where public servants carry out their work every day is dignified.
He maintained that the building marks a before and after for OMSA, both in the working conditions of its collaborators and in the attention to the citizens who come to the institution.
Bisonó emphasized that this work, with an investment exceeding RD$117 million, including furnishings, and with 1,400 square meters distributed over three levels, constitutes a demonstration of the Dominican government’s commitment to strengthen the internal capacities of the State to better serve the citizenry.
He assured that the Mivhed is working to ensure that each public work responds to a real need, has a concrete impact, and contributes to institutional strengthening. In addition, he urged to preserve the facilities through proper maintenance, pointing out that taking care of the building is protecting the investment made by the country.
Judicial City Supervision
Following the inauguration, President Abinader also oversaw the progress on the construction of the Judicial City of Santo Domingo Oeste, built on land adjacent to OMSA.
During the tour, the Head of State received details of the buildings that will house the Judiciary, the Public Defender’s Office and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, as part of the strengthening of institutionalism and access to justice in that demarcation.
The blessing of the work was performed by Father José Muñoz, parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Las Caobas, who prayed for the success of the project and the well-being of the citizenry.
In the activity were present the administrative minister of the Presidency, Antoliano Peralta Romero; the minister without portfolio and coordinator of the Transportation Cabinet, Deligne Ascención; the governor of Santo Domingo province, Lucrecia Santana Leyva; and the mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste municipality, Francisco Peña.
