San Cristóbal, DR.– The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) inaugurated a modern Postgraduate building at its San Cristóbal Center, a project intended to expand the fourth-level academic offering and strengthen research, innovation, and professional training in the Southern region.
The infrastructure has three levels, six classrooms, and ten laboratories, where postgraduate programs and specialized subjects linked to the undergraduate degrees offered by that university extension will be taught.
The event was led by the rector of the UASD, Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, who defined the delivery of the building as the fulfillment of a commitment made to San Cristóbal and to the expansion of public higher education.
“Perseverance and teamwork make what seems impossible become reality,” he/she expressed during his/her speech.
Beltrán Crisóstomo maintained that the new building represents an investment in development, knowledge, and social mobility for the inhabitants of the Southern region.
“We are delivering development, opportunities, and social mobility. We are raising the pride of being UASDians to the pinnacle,” he/she stated.
The rector thanked the Government for its support in the execution of the project and recognized the work of the group of administrative staff known as the Elite Team, whose members participated in the recovery of spaces, the renovation of buildings, and the transformation of various areas of the state academy.

Likewise, he explained that several of those collaborators were promoted and assigned to new roles, in recognition of their performance and contributions to institutional strengthening.
A space for specialized training
The director of the UASD San Cristóbal Center, Margarita Corporán, highlighted that this branch becomes the first in the university to have a building dedicated exclusively to postgraduate studies.
He pointed out that the new facilities will allow for the consolidation of the Master’s Degree in Hospital Services Management and the expansion of the range of programs related to STEAM methodology and the application of artificial intelligence in educational processes.

Corporán also highlighted the creation of the UASD San Cristóbal Center for Constitutional Studies, from where conferences and academic activities on penitentiary law, police training, and constitutional education will be developed.
In addition, he highlighted the strengthening of the experimental high schools Mercedes Fabiola Uribe Guridis and Américo Lugo, whose graduates will be able to enter the UASD with 31 academic credits previously approved.
“The UASD remains. We were elected to carry out a task, but the University continues,” he stated.
Authorities highlight impact of the work
The governor of San Cristóbal, Pura Casilla, stated that the new infrastructure will contribute to the educational and professional development of the province. During her speech, she highlighted the rector’s vocation for service and commitment to strengthening higher education.
On behalf of the student community, Elvin Luis Pinales Doñé thanked the rector, the Government, and the university authorities for the construction of the building, noting that it will allow students and professionals to access specialized programs without the need to travel to other provinces.
The ceremony began with a religious invocation by Luis Miguel Hernández, who asked that the new facilities contribute to the fulfillment of the state academy’s educational mission. Subsequently, the authorities took a tour of the different areas of the building.
The activity was attended by the Vice-Rector of Research and Postgraduate Studies, Radhamés Silverio González; the Deputy Director of the UASD San Cristóbal Center, Valerio de la Cruz; the elected Deputy Director, Carlos Pereyra; the Director of the UASD-Azua University City, Marcial Figueroa Rosado; the General Director of Institutional Planning and Development, Noel de la Rosa, as well as university authorities, faculty, students, administrative staff, representatives of academic organizations, communicators, and special guests.
