Abinader meets with officials to continue assessing follow-up to damage caused by atmospheric phenomenon Melissa

Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader convened his cabinet of government this Tuesday to a follow-up meeting to continue evaluating the damage caused by the atmospheric phenomenon Melissa during its passage through the country. During the meeting, the president, accompanied by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, reviewed the progress in the recovery of local roads, the asphalting of affected communities, and preventive actions in the field of health. He also reported that economic support for the city councils is being accelerated and that a prior audit is being carried out to proceed this week with direct aid to the affected producers.

The president explained that the Agricultural Bank is working on new financing facilities for farmers, while the National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme) is executing special contributions for micro-merchants due to the days without work during the passage of the phenomenon. The Head of State also highlighted the permanent monitoring of the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food (DASAC) to ensure that all affected families receive the necessary assistance and can restore normalcy in the shortest possible time. Present were the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista; of Public Works and Communications, Eduardo Estrella; of Agriculture, Limber Cruz; of Public Health and Social Assistance, Víctor Atallah; the directors of Budget, José Rijo Presbot; of Purchases and Contracting, Carlos Pimentel; of Social Development Supérate, Gloria Reyes; of the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud; of Promipyme, Fabricio Gómez Mazara; of Dasac, Edgar Felix; of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama; the administrator of the Agricultural Bank, Fernando Durán. Also, the mayors of Santo Domingo Norte, Betty Gerónimo, of Santo Domingo Este, Dio Astacio; of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña and of Los Alcarrizos, Junior Santos.
