Samaná.- President Luis Abinader led a close meeting this Saturday with Samaná community members within the framework of “The Government With You” (“El Gobierno Contigo”), in which he prioritized the search for and follow-up on solutions to common problems and basic services such as potable water.
Likewise, he highlighted the importance of improving the internal road between the municipalities of Sánchez and Las Terrenas.
In this scenario, the head of state maintains direct contact with Dominicans, providing them with the opportunity to present their most pressing needs, in order to address them according to the priorities of each community.
In accordance with the words of the head of State, Wellington Arnaud, director of Inapa, recalled that the investment made in the water sector over the last six years is five times greater than those previously made, with more than RD 1 billion having been executed to date in the province.
Immediately, he referred to projects in Las Terrenas, where they plan to complete the sewer system within a period of two months, organizing it in accordance with population growth. Likewise, the distribution of drinking water will be improved with the expansion of the aqueduct, for which some RD 1.8 billion will be allocated.
For the benefit of the Sánchez community, he assured that the aqueduct will be completed this year and, for the main municipality, Santa Bárbara de Samaná, Arnaud explained that they are currently working on repairing some equipment so that, in the next few hours, the aqueduct will be operating at 100%.
Various solutions are also being managed for the communities of El Limón and Las Galeras; for the latter, the tender for the expansion of the aqueduct will be uploaded in the last quarter of this year, demonstrating the unwavering commitment to improving living conditions in all communities across the country.

More sports facilities
Another sector that receives great attention from the Government is sports, promoting the renovation and construction of new facilities for the practice of sports by children, youth, and adults.
In this regard, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, pointed out that the survey for the work on the Las Terrenas ballpark has been completed, while the process for a requested roof in Arroyo Barril will begin in the coming months.
In addition to these, the intervention of different baseball fields in the province will subsequently be continued.
Community works in favor of the province
Upon his arrival, the president gave way to community participation, in which representatives of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, Las Terrenas, Sánchez, El Limón, Las Galeras, among others, expressed some of their needs.
Among these, the continuity of protection programs for protected areas, a fishermen’s pier, new cemeteries and funeral homes, solutions for landfills and streams, medical care units, police detachments, paving, and municipal markets.
Similarly, new vocational and technical training schools, housing repairs, immersion English programs, and student incentives.
The parochial sector and the people with disabilities sector were also heard, who expressed their joy at having been taken into account, requesting in the case of the latter, a bus to facilitate their transport and food rations.
