Santo Domingo.- The Association of Industries and Companies of Haina and the Southern Region (AIEHaina and Southern Region) brought together representatives of the agro-industrial sector in a meeting led by its president, Juan Tomás Díaz, with the purpose of strengthening dialogue between productive sectors and sharing the industry’s contribution to the economic and social development of the Dominican Republic.
In welcoming the participants, Díaz highlighted the importance of creating spaces for exchange that allow for the identification of collaboration opportunities between the industry and the agro-industrial sector, two fundamental areas for job creation, exports, and the country’s sustainable growth.
During the activity, Juan Tomás Díaz highlighted the strength and economic impact of the Haina Industrial District, noting that the companies operating in this area project investments exceeding US$550 million for the 2025-2027 period, aimed at strengthening strategic sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, energy, food, and industrial services.

Likewise, he indicated that the companies installed in Haina generate more than 56,595 direct jobs, record sales exceeding RD$250 billion, and contribute more than RD$67 billion in value added to the national economy, reflecting the decisive role that this industrial hub plays in the country’s productive development.
Díaz also highlighted Haina’s contribution to Dominican foreign trade, specifying that exports made through its port exceeded US$3.881 billion in 2023, consolidating this area as one of the main logistics and industrial hubs of the Dominican Republic.

As part of the event, Miguel Lajara, from Operadora de Puertos de Haina (OJIVA), spoke about the importance of strengthening alliances between the productive, logistics, and industrial sectors to promote solutions that contribute to the economic and productive development of the region.
During his speech, Lajara highlighted Haina’s potential as one of the country’s main industrial and logistical hubs, emphasizing that the coordination between the private sector, authorities, and business organizations is fundamental to promoting competitiveness, attracting investment, and generating new growth opportunities for the Southern region and for the entire Dominican Republic.
Likewise, he valued the role that AIEHaina and the Southern Region play as a space for dialogue and coordination between the different productive actors, promoting initiatives aimed at strengthening the business fabric and the sustainable development of the area.
